Fitbit has released a major software update for its "smart" Surge watches and the Charge HR fitness bracelet, which will support the automatic detection of the type of SmartTrack activity. In parallel, the company improved the performance of the heart rate monitor during active workouts, and users had the opportunity to set goals for the whole week.

Now Fitbit Surge and Charge HR will know when their owner jogs, rides a bicycle, engages in an elliptical trainer, performs cardio training (special fitness program, dance or kickboxing), plays basketball, football or tennis. All these data will be saved in the mobile application for Android and iOS, where the duration of an activity, the number of calories burned and the results of heart rate measurements will be displayed.
