Surprise! Samsung tests Galaxy S9 Mini on Snapdragon 660

Samsung tradition to release mini versions of its flagships was interrupted in 2014 by Galaxy S5 Mini, but soon the Korean giant can return to this idea. First, the compact Galaxy S9 Mini was reported by Chinese insiders, and now the alleged novelty appeared in the base of the benchmark Geekbench under the number SM-G8750.

Why wait?

The device is equipped with an eight-core Snapdragon 660 processor and 4 gigabytes of RAM. In a single-core test, he scored 1619 points, and in the multithreaded mode the result was 5955 points. This is comparable to other smartphones on the same chipset, including Xiaomi Mi Note 3. The prototype is running Android 8.0 Oreo, but in the final version the system version may be different - it all depends on the timing of the release.

If the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini does exist (and there is no firm belief in this), it should inherit the design of older models and get an endless display bent at the sides with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9.

Potential competitor Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact offers flagship characteristics, but much will depend on the difference in price between the Japanese and Korean "minicom."
