Doodle Google celebrates the 90th birthday of Maya Angelou

Today Google's doodle celebrates the birthday of the black American writer and poetess Maya Angelou .

Combating inequality

During her life, Maya Angelou wrote five collections of essays, seven autobiographical books, several plays and a couple of poetry collections. In the US, the most popular book of the writer "I know what a bird sings in a cage." This is an autobiographical novel, where the writer tells about her rape when she was 8 years old.

The main themes of all the works of Angelow are the struggle against racism and gender inequality. The writer worked with Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. She became the first poetess to read her poems at the inauguration of the US president. It was in 1993 when Bill Clinton took office.
