Fashion house Louis Vuitton has released an Echo device, through which you can track your luggage at airports. For this novelty, neither GPS nor Wi-Fi is needed.

How it works?

The Louis Vuitton Echo uses the free ISM frequency band. Upon arrival in a new country, the system automatically selects a communication channel and connects to the "cloud" for the transfer of statistics. The technology is developed by Sigfox and is provided as part of the Monarch service. Subscription for three years is already included in the cost, how much will the extension cost - it's not known.

Officially declared compatibility with the branded suitcases Horizon 50, 55 and 70, where for the gadget there is a special department. It ensures the correct position of the light sensor, when triggered, the user will know that the luggage was opened. During the flight Louis Vuitton Echo turns off its transmitter, and after landing the device reports its location. The LV Pass appendix will show whether the suitcase has arrived with the owner.

Built-in battery Louis Vuitton Echo will last for six months without recharging. While the new technology is supported only in large airports and not in all countries (the full list here ).

Price and competitors

Louis Vuitton Echo can already be bought in the US for $ 370 . While it is difficult to say how much a similar device could cost without the LV logo, since the Sigfox Monarch service is still new, and there is no subscription data for ordinary mortals yet. But for suitcase owners with a price tag of $ 3,900 this is not too much luxury.

Full-value GPS-trackers of luggage with the international SIM we have not met yet, but we can mention several GSM-beacons. For example, LugLoc Tracker will cost $ 70 plus $ 20 per year for a subscription. Another popular model of Trakdot costs about $ 40, and annual access to services - $ 25. These boxes allow you to track your luggage for the duration of the trip, however, some buyers complain about the occasional communication problems.
