Sony introduced a more compact version of the tablet in electronic ink in Japan, but the price of Digital Paper devices is still biting.

What kind of beast?

The first two models of the line were equipped with a 13.3-inch display the size of a sheet of A4. The new Sony DPT-CP1 tablet received a 10.3 inch E Ink screen with a resolution of 1872x1404 pixels and a density of 227 ppi. Continuing the analogy with office paper, the new panel is closer to the A5 format. Inside, the four-core 64-bit Marvell IAP140 chipset is used.

The non-slip surface of the display creates a feeling of working with paper, in the kit there is a stylus. Sony Digital Paper works only with PDF-format, and other documents will have to be converted before downloading to the tablet. Of 16 GB of internal memory, the user is available about 11 GB. NFC support allows you to quickly connect to a smartphone - through it the device can be synchronized with the "cloud" and send documents via email.

The size of the tablet is 174.2x243.5x5.9 mm, weight - 240 grams. The manufacturer promises a month of battery life with an hour of reading a day.

Question price

In Japan, the Sony DPT-CP1 can be bought for about $ 650. The 13.3-inch version costs almost $ 100 more. Among the competitors - the same minimalistic reMarkable tablet worth $ 620 and more available Onyx Boox Note ($ 570), which supports most popular book formats.

All these are niche devices for those who are used to working with paper. The usual user will rather choose 10.5-inch iPad Pro (from $ 650 without Apple Pencil).
