Florida Joker raises the stakes: criminal demands three million dollars from Rockstar Games and threatens lawyers
The story of extortion of monetary compensation for allegedly using the image of a real American criminal in the trailer of GTA VI continues.
Here's What We Know
Immediately after the release of the first trailer of the most anticipated game - Grand Theft Auto VI, to Rockstar Games made claims Lawrence Sullivan nicknamed Florida Joker. He demanded "$1-2 million" in financial compensation because of the resemblance to his colourful appearance of one of the characters in the video.
After receiving no response from Rockstar, the Joker got angry and upped the ante to $3 million. He gave the developers three days to respond, after which he promises to "go to his lawyers and sue the company."
The perpetrator emphasised that he's not Lindsay Lohan and his case won't be a losing one, but frankly, Joker's appeals look more like great self-promotion than a real threat to Rockstar Games and Take-Two, who are renowned for their lawyers.
We continue to watch with interest.
