Fans of Half-Life are tired of waiting for the third episode about the adventures of Gordon Freeman and undertook to make the game themselves. This was prompted by the writer of the first Half-Life Mark Leydlou, who in August 2017 posted a draft version of Episode 3. This publication blew up the gaming community, and gave fans a reason to gather and create.

What is known

The developers called Project Borealis, placed on the engine of Unreal Engine 4 and even made a demo. On the site, they posted a gameplay video with an earlier version of the game. Given that the project is created from scratch, the guys did an excellent job. The video shows Gordon's animations and weapons, which are similar to the original, on the Source engine.

The other part of the team is engaged in level design. Artists follow the setting of the official Half-Life 2: Episode 3, in which Gordon was to be thrown into the Arctic. The developers emphasize that they created a virtual room to test lighting and textures in unique situations.

Artists are also working on illustrations for the game. Already prepared images prepared for the Arctic realities Alex. Developers try to adhere to the inner logic of the world, depriving Project Borealis of excess.

Plot draft

Enthusiasts boasted a draft version of the script for Project Borealis. The basis was taken by the publication of Leydlou and added details to it. In any case, the plot is still being created, but the developers are worried about its implementation in the game. They say, they may not have enough power to realize their ideas.

This is thought of by composers who try to follow the mood of Half-Life. At SoundCloud, you'll find an album called Compilation IV, where musicians try to fill the original soundtrack with new details.

When to expect

The creators of Project Borealis do not talk about the exact release date. The project is done on pure enthusiasm, which may one day end. Even commercial remakes do not always get to the release. Do not forget about the lawyers who can at any time welcome to the guys.
