Nintendo became famous for its love of earning retro-games, but with the advent of Switch this tradition ended. "Big N" said that Virtual Console will not appear on the hybrid console.

If you forgot

Virtual Console first appeared on the Wii console, and allowed players to run retro games. In the collection there were systems from Nintendo itself and other companies: SNES, N64, Mega Drive and TurboGrafx-16.

What now

Now the company has abandoned the Virtual Console, but the retro games will not go away anywhere. Classics will be distributed free of charge to subscribers of online service Switch Online. This is such PS Plus from the world of Nintendo, in which you buy a subscription, opening access to multiplayer and other network functions.

By purchasing a subscription, the user accesses the library of classic NES games. At the launch of the service, there are 20 titles available, but the list will be updated. In the future there will be games of the youngest SNES.

When to expect

Switch Online will work in September this year, along with network functions and a library of classic games. If you still play online on Wii U or 3DS, then you do not need to buy a subscription.

Subscription Switch Online for a month will cost $ 4, for three months at $ 8, and for the year will ask $ 20. For a large family or a company of friends, Nintendo offers a "Family Plan". For $ 35, up to seven users on different devices can connect to the account.
