Google is preparing a new Pixie AI assistant for the Pixel 9 based on the Gemini model
Google is developing a new personalised virtual assistant with artificial intelligence elements called Pixie. According to The Information, it will be presented together with the new Pixel 9 smartphone.
Here's What We Know
Pixie is based on Google's recently announced Gemini language model. Thanks to this, the assistant will be able to perform complex multimodal tasks: for example, suggesting the route to the nearest shop to buy a product photographed by the user.
Pixie will work exclusively on Pixel smartphones. Access to user data from Gmail, Maps and other company services will allow the assistant to become more personalised.
Apparently, Pixie will be a separate product from the recently announced Google Assistant with Bard.
As a reminder, Gemini was introduced as Google's first integrated multimodal. If Pixie is indeed powered by it, it could become a much more advanced assistant compared to Google Assistant.
It is also known that Gemini will also form the basis of the next generation of the Bard chatbot.
