Walmart merged Borderlands 3, Just Cause 4 and the new Splinter Cell for the month before E3 2018
The main enemy of gaming publishers is the stores that sell their products. Only in 2017 there were three cases when retailers "merged" the games before the official announcement. 2018 decided to continue this tradition.
What is known
The Canadian website of the Walmart hypermarket chain published on the "New Game Releases" page unannounced projects. The list featured Rage 2, Borderlands 3, the new Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed, and Just Cause 4. Interest in the news adds the upcoming E3 2018, which usually announces major projects.
It looks like a joke
The discharge is serious, but there are doubts about its truthfulness. Rumors about Borderlands 3 have been around for a long time, and the development of the game has lost its secrecy. The announcement of the new AS is also possible if we plan to release the game for 2019, but here's the new Splinter Cell ... If Ubisoft were to develop such a large project, we would know. About the same Origins, we learned six months before the official announcement.
Just Cause 4 and Rage 2 were also on the list. Bethesda, the owner of the latter, reacted to the sink, reviving the Twitter account of the game. The publisher criticized Walmart for the wrong font and lack of information about the age rating on the box with the game.
What now
Such plums are not uncommon and usually they turn out to be truthful. So it was with the remaster Spyro the Dragon and the announcement of Middle-earth: Shadow of War. In such situations, publishers and developers are silent, and we patiently wait for E3 for the sake of official announcements.
