It seems that the rumors about the upcoming flagship Xiaomi smartphone were wrong in one thing - instead of the expected Mi 7, Mi 8 will be released right away. They decided to name the novelty in honor of the company's 8th anniversary, which was celebrated in April.

What did they tell?

On the eve of the information appeared that together with Xiaomi Mi 7 will show a limited edition of the flagship for the birthday of "small rice". Later, the Chinese insider under the nickname Mocha RQ stated that there will be no Mi 7. Perhaps skipping one figure is also associated with big changes in the smartphone. So, for example, a new 3D face scanner in the Face ID style of the iPhone X is attributed to the new flagship. Now, in Android smartphones, the face unlock function uses a regular camera, so you can cheat it with a face photograph, and in the dark the system works very badly.

Specifications

As expected, Xiaomi Mi 8 will receive a 6-inch display with a ratio of 19: 9 and "monobrow." Judging by the spy photos , there will be a small chin at the bottom (because getting rid of it is too expensive ). Inside there is a top eight-core chipset Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 540 graphics, RAM 6/8 gigabytes, and built-in 64/128 gigabytes. According to rumors, prices will start at $ 440 for the basic configuration.

When?

The insider confirmed the release of Xiaomi Mi 8 at the end of this month. Perhaps, the presentation will be held on May 23 .
