Huawei unveiled the Nova 12 Pro and Nova 12 Ultra: smartphones with Kirin chips, satellite connectivity and variable aperture support
Huawei held an event in China on the 26th of December where it showed off its new Nova 12 line of smartphones.
Here's What We Know
The top models of the series are smartphones Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Huawei Nova 12 Ultra. The gadgets feature a 6.76-inch curved display with a 120Hz OLED matrix and Full HD+ resolution. The screen also has a pill-shaped camera cutout that houses two front sensors. According to the manufacturer, the Ultra model comes with Kunlus protective glass. Which glass is installed in the Pro version is unknown.
The Huawei Nova 12 Pro is powered by the Kirin 8000 processor. As for the Huawei Nova 12 Ultra, it will get a Kirin 9000SL chip. The new products support 5G and come paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The devices get 4,600mAh batteries with 100W charging. Both the new products also boast of satellite connectivity support, under-screen scanners, Dual SIM, Face Unlock, and Bluetooth 5.2 module with AAC, SBC and LDAC codecs.
The cameras on both the smartphones are the same. There is a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back of the smartphones. It is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a macro module. The main camera has a variable aperture that can change from f/1.4 to f/4.0. This allows for 2x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. On the front, there is a 60-megapixel main ultra-wide-angle camera for selfies and an 8-megapixel portrait camera. The wide-angle sensor has an aperture of f/2.4 and autofocus support, while the portrait sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and also supports autofocus.
Price & When We Can Expect It
Sales of the Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Huawei Nova 12 Ultra will start in China on 12 January. The former model will be priced from $560, while the latter will be priced from $658.
