Samsung audio-video equipment at CES 2024: betting on artificial intelligence for a new, better life
CES traditionally opens the new year with a new generation of devices that will dominate the coming months (at least until autumn, when something new will be shown at IFA). But the vast majority of the year's major devices are shown here. This year, Samsung is betting its strategy on artificial intelligence (we are waiting for Galaxy AI in January), which is, of course, a general technological trend. But it is not limited to AI technologies. OLED TVs in 2024 will have a new technology that will significantly reduce screen glare from the sun (or other light sources). All sound and image processing technologies in TVs will receive further improvements thanks to a new AI processor. The gg editorial team is also intrigued by the new powerful Premiere 8K projector and the interesting Music Frame soundbar, which is equipped with a display and will play on the field of photo frames. This continues Samsung's consistent strategy of bringing technology closer to lifestyle and creating new lifestyle products.
Samsung NQ8 AI Gen3 processor for TVs: 8 times more neural networks in the NPU
Samsung's Neo QLED 8K and 4K TVs will offer improved premium picture quality and sound in 2024. Thanks to the latest NQ8 AI Gen3 processor with a neural co-processor (NPU) that is twice as fast as previous versions, the user will get the most realistic image reproduction on the screen. Samsung says that even the smallest details will be displayed with incredible clarity and detail thanks to an eightfold increase in the number of neural networks that process images and sound, from 64 to 512. This makes the 2024 lineup even more productive, offering a new level of TV experience.
The Neo QLED line offers a number of features to improve picture and sound quality:
- 8K AI Upscaling Pro: Powered by the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, this enhancement feature improves low-resolution images by upscaling them to 8K resolution. It works only with QN900D TVs. Other models use the regular 8K AI Upscaling algorithm.
- AI Motion Enhancer Pro: Solves common problems with sports content, including ball distortion. It streams high-resolution sports matches and automatically detects the sport using deep learning, for example, to pinpoint the ball. Unfortunately, Samsung indicates that this feature may not be applicable when the TV is connected to a PC and in game mode
- Real Depth Enhancer Pro: Uses artificial intelligence to add detail to fast-moving scenes to control mini-LEDs. Images look more realistic and three-dimensional by emphasising the part of the scene that our eyes would normally focus on.
- 2024 Q-Symphony: Allows you to optionally connect wireless speakers and a soundbar to your TV or projector for precise audio synchronisation between shows, movies or music playlists. This technology brings the sound of your TV or projector speakers together with soundbars that support Q-Symphony.
- Active Voice Amplifier Pro: A proprietary dialogue amplifier that has been significantly enhanced by artificial intelligence and deep machine learning technologies. This function works by separating voices from other sounds on the screen, affecting the clarity of dialogues. It allows you to understand the conversation on the screen, regardless of the volume of the sound in the room.
- Infinity Air Design: The Neo QLED 8K TV's design features a screen that's only 12.9mm thick (for the 65'' QN900D), adding to the immersive viewing experience. It also creates a mirror effect that makes it look like the TV is suspended in mid-air.

OLED Glare Free: reducing glare in OLED TVs
For OLED screens of 2024, a new OLED Glare Free technology has been specially developed, which, according to the manufacturer, reduces glare on the screen even in bright light. It will be available for all OLED TVs with a diagonal of 55 inches and above. The S95D offers an ultra-large 77-inch picture with high detail, deep blacks and a 20% increase in brightness compared to 2023 models. It has the brightest screen of any Samsung OLED TV and features a high refresh rate of up to 144Hz, allowing sports fans and gamers to enjoy a more satisfying viewing experience. Colours and transitions between colours are even more accurate thanks to enhanced artificial intelligence, which is confirmed by Pantone Validated™. In addition to the S95D, the S90D and S85D are also available in a range of sizes from 42" to 83".
MICRO LED transparent screen: another innovation
Samsung's new MICRO LED technology demonstrates a new level of capability and allows for the creation of transparent screens. They are used in the B2B segment and, thanks to their modular design, can be used to create panels of any size and aspect ratio. The new MICRO LED transparent screens embody Samsung's years of experience in the semiconductor industry, which has enabled the application of LED chips directly onto glass. These screens use extremely small MICRO LED chips and a precision manufacturing process that eliminates light refraction and reduces the visibility of the seams between the panels that make up the screen.
Tizen 2024 operating system: personalised content for every member of the family
Televisions play a key role in the home today. Thanks to modern technology, they provide a seamless connection between various gadgets in the home. The Tizen 2024 operating system revolutionises Neo QLED 8 TVs. The main feature of this system is the transformation of content into a central element of the user experience. The Tizen 2024 operating system now allows each family member to create their own profile, which provides personalised recommendations and a more individualised approach to content recommendations on Smart TVs.
Of particular note is Samsung Daily+, which will run on DU7000 TVs. This is a new hub for home activity that will significantly improve the lives of users. It offers a range of services and features, including personal training, telemedicine, video calling and remote PC solutions:
- Multi Control: This feature allows you to control all screens in your home, such as TVs, smartphones and monitors, with a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse. Users can now work on documents and use different devices conveniently and efficiently.
- Mobile Smart Connect: All new apps and services can be easily controlled using the SmartThings app, which turns your smartphone into a multifunctional remote control. This remote allows users to gain more control over their screens.
- 360 Audio: The audio feature previously available on Galaxy devices is now available for Samsung TVs and screens. With the Samsung Galaxy Buds headphones, you can get spatial audio for movies, shows, and even games.
- Library: Ambient Mode now allows you to stream photos and music from your mobile devices to your TVs.
- Closed Captioning: The world's first TV feature that uses artificial intelligence and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to read out video-embedded subtitles with voice.
- A remote control for barrier-free control: An app for users with disabilities that makes it easier to control your TV with your smartphone.
- Relumino Together mode: Using artificial intelligence to dynamically highlight the outline of elements on the screen and adjust the colour balance, this feature allows users with visual impairments to see objects more clearly. The Relumino Together mode allows you to split the screen in half (one half broadcasts a normal image, the other half - with Relumino mode) and watch TV with the whole family at the same time.
New lifestyle products that will inspire admiration
The concept of "Screens Everywhere, Screens for Everyone", which Samsung announced a few years ago, has been embodied in two new products for 2024. These are the Music Frame soundbar and The Premiere 8K projector. Samsung calls The Premiere 8K"the world's first wireless 8K projector". It uses the new Wireless One Connect Box, which allows you to connect peripherals (game consoles or disc players) and stream images to the projector from up to 10 metres away without using cables! This ultra-short throw projector comes with a Smart TV package and uses Samsung's patented Sound-on-Screen technology, which combines a top-mounted speaker and software algorithms for an impressive sound experience. It also supports cloud gaming and MultiView screen, which allows you to split the screen into 4 independent parts with their own video sources. And it can be used to listen to music with the screen turned off.
The new SmartThings-enabled Music Frame soundbar can work as a standalone wireless speaker or be paired with a Samsung TV and soundbar using Q-Symphony technology for enhanced bass and spatial sound. Like other Samsung interior products, it's designed to blend in with the room and allows you to stream images on your own screen.
