Paul Mescal has completed filming on the Gladiator sequel: "I survived..."
Actor Paul Mescal, while appearing on The Graham Norton Show, revealed that he has already finished filming on Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2.
Here's What We Know
The actor didn't reveal anything else about the film and avoided questions at all costs, joking that he would be "killed" if he gave out any information.
"I finished yesterday" Mescal told Graham Norton over the weekend. "I survived it....Somebody's going to assassinate me right now if I say anything further.".
Mescal was cast in the lead role last February, following Scott's return to the director's chair.
Here's What The Movie Is About
Not much is known.
The sequel, which has been laboured over for years, will unfold the plot one generation after the events of the original. Despite the absence of Russell Crowe in the second instalment, his character, Maximus, will be key in shaping the plot as the main characters will be linked to the events of the first film.
Gladiator 2 will star Barry Keoghan alongside Mescal, who will play the role of Emperor Geta, who was indeed a Roman emperor, but like the first film, the sequel is not based on real events. Mescal will play Lucius, the son of Lucilla, who grew up admiring Maximus (Crowe's character), who saved him and his mother.
When We Can Expect It
No official release date has been given, but Mescal speculates that "Gladiator 2" will be out in November in time for Thanksgiving.
