We have already written many times that Ukraine wants to receive German TAURUS cruise missiles, but Germany is not yet ready to supply them to the AFU. Now our partners from the UK have proposed a solution to this problem.

Here's What We Know

According to the German edition Handelsblatt, the UK has offered a deal to Germany. The United Kingdom wants TAURUS KEPD 350 cruise missiles, and in return Britain will send Ukraine more Storm Shadow cruise missiles, which the AFU is already using with Su-24M bombers. Negotiations on the missile deliveries are still underway.

Flashback

TAURUS is a Swedish-German air-to-ground cruise missile. It is an analogue of the French-British Storm Shadow/SCALP EG missile. TAURUS is designed for high-precision strikes and destruction of highly protected targets at a range of up to 500 kilometres. The missile is manufactured by Taurus Systems GmbH (a joint venture between MBDA Deutschland and Saab Bofors Dynamics AB). The approximate cost per missile is $1,000,000.

Storm Shadow is a Franco-British air-to-ground cruise missile. It is being developed by MBDA. The missile is designed to destroy important targets that are well protected by air defences. Storm Shadow can be used at any time of day and in difficult weather conditions. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 1,000 kilometres. Ukraine has in service an export version of the missile with an operational range of 250-300 kilometres.
