People Can Fly, the company that created Bulletstorm, lays off 30 employees
As sad as it may sound, layoffs in the gaming industry are becoming a common occurrence. This time, the layoffs took place at People Can Fly, a studio known for the Bulletstorm shooter.
Here's What We Know
First, Kotaku wrote about it, and then the studio itself confirmed the veracity of this fact.
The layoffs affected only those people who worked on an unannounced game codenamed Project Gemini. Its publisher is Square Enix.
The layoffs were made due to budget constraints and downsizing. Another 20 people were also laid off, but they will continue to work at the studio on other projects.
Project Gemini was supposed to be released in 2026, but it is unknown whether this release date will be maintained now. A source told Kotaku that the campaign of the upcoming game will be shorter and the list of enemies smaller due to budget cuts.
It is also known that the laid-off employees in Poland have been given a three-month transition period and will continue to work during this time. However, those outside Poland who are affected by the cuts will be out of work by the end of the week.
