It's official: Fossil will no longer make smartwatches
In recent months, the media has been reporting that Fossil has decided to stop making smart watches. Today, Fossil has officially confirmed this.
Details
Fossil is leaving the smart watch market. The Fossil Gen 6 model, released in 2021, will be the manufacturer's last smartwatch. Instead, the company will redirect its resources to other areas.
""As the smartwatch landscape has evolved significantly over the past few years, we have made the strategic decision to exit the smartwatch business. Fossil Group is redirecting resources to support our core strength and the core segments of our business that continue to provide strong growth opportunities for us: designing and distributing exciting traditional watches, jewelry, and leather goods under our own as well as licensed brand names"," Fossil spokesperson Amanda Castelli told The Verge.
That said, Fossil promises to update its existing smartwatches over the next few years.
