Eidos Montreal studio has confirmed staff layoffs, and Arkane Lyon's head Arkane Lyon is inviting game designers to join his team
Yesterday, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that Embracer Group holding company has cancelled development of the long-awaited Deus Ex sequel and is conducting a wave of layoffs at Eidos Montréal studio.
Unfortunately, some of the information has already been officially confirmed.
Here's What We Know
Eidos Montréal studio published a statement in which they confirmed that they made a difficult but necessary decision and had to lay off 97 employees.
After learning of the problems at Eidos Montréal, Arkane Lyon studio head Dinga Bakaba invited the unemployed to join his team to develop Marvel's Blade, which was announced for December 2023.
As for the cancellation of the Deus Ex sequel, to the timid hope of fans of the franchise, we note that so far this information has not been confirmed by either Eidos Montréal or Embracer Group. But the game has not been officially announced, so the developers are not obliged to announce its cancellation.
