Wyze camera glitch lets you see into other people's homes

Some Wyze camera owners have reported seeing images from cameras that do not belong to them, and even receiving alerts about events in other people's homes.

Wyze co-founder David Crosby confirmed the problem with personal data security and blamed it on Amazon Web Services. According to him, some users were able to see thumbnails of images of broadcasts from the cameras of other Wyze camera owners, without being able to view the broadcasts themselves.

As noted, the failure occurred because the company's servers were rebooted, which corrupted user credentials and caused a security problem. Wyze was able to identify 14 cases of access rights violation, after which the Events tab was removed, and users who had recently used the branded application were logged out of the system to reset their tokens.

The company promises to notify users affected by the breach in detail after the specialists have further investigated the mechanism of the problem.

Wyze has already been involved in privacy scandals when it ignored reports of a security hole for 3 years, which allowed unauthorised access to someone else's broadcast.
