Samsung aims to make the Galaxy Ring compatible with other Android phones
At MWC 2024, attendees got a closer look at the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Ring. In addition to showcasing the device, Samsung also shared a few interesting details that may have been missed.
Here's What We Know
Samsung confirmed in the interview that it is working on making the Galaxy Ring compatible with other Android phones. This is good news for Android users who don't own Galaxy phones. Samsung's vice president, Dr Hon Pak, said that the company is committed to making the smart ring available for all Android devices.
The Galaxy Ring promises long battery life. While battery sizes have not yet been specified, prototypes with batteries ranging from 14.5 mAh to 21.5 mAh were unveiled at the event. The largest ring will have a 21.5 mAh capacity, which is comparable to the Oura Ring.
As for weight, the smallest prototype model weighed 2.3g and the largest weighed 2.9g. If the Galaxy Ring remains as light at launch, the largest model will be more than 1g lighter than the lightest Oura Ring.
However, iPhone users won't get that option. Samsung understands the iOS/Android problem, but hopes that their devices will be so attractive that iPhone users will want to switch to them.
The Galaxy Ring will be available in three colours: silver, gold and black.
