Windows 11 introduces the ability to use your Android phone or tablet as a webcam for your PC
Microsoft is now rolling out a new feature in Windows 11 that turns an Android phone or tablet into a computer webcam after a similar feature was introduced in Pixel phones through the Android 14 beta last year. This new feature is available for the first time to users registered with the Windows Preview Programme.
Here's What We Know
Microsoft has announced the gradual rollout of a new feature for Windows 11 that allows users to use their Android mobile device's camera like a webcam on their PC. This feature gives you the ability to wirelessly enjoy the high quality of your mobile device's camera on your PC with flexibility and convenience. Some of the features include switching between front and rear camera, pausing the stream during interruptions and using the effects provided by the mobile device model.
To enable this option, go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices, select "Manage Devices" and allow your PC to access your Android mobile device. Your PC will receive the Cross Device Experience Host update from the Microsoft Store, which is required for this feature to work.
This feature will be gradually available to Windows 11 users across all Windows Insider channels. To use this feature, your smartphone or tablet needs to have Android 9.0+ and Link to Windows app version 1.24012* or higher.
