The country's Ministry of Defence reported that it has already received 52 units of various modern equipment from PT Pindad.

It is noted that the supplies are part of the army modernisation programme. It was launched in order to increase the army's combat readiness and ability to respond to external threats.

The tank, which has two names - Turkish Kaplan and Indonesian Harimau - has a gross weight of approximately 32 tonnes and can reach a maximum speed of 78 km/h. The tank's armament is conventional: A 105 mm Cockerill gun and a machine gun.

In 2019, Indonesia signed a $135 million deal to produce 18 of these tanks.
