Apostrophy OS: What is known about the new Swiss mobile OS?
Apostrophy OS, also known as AphyOS, is a new mobile operating system that puts privacy and security first. It is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and does not include the Google Mobile Service (GMS) package, which means no Google apps such as the Google Play Store.
Here's What We Know
AphyOS uses part of the GrapheneOS code base for its own Android implementation and like GrapheneOS is focused on privacy and security. However, AphyOS aims to make a name for itself by offering more than the typical GrapheneOS features. The company behind AphyOS is based in Switzerland, a country with some of the strictest data protection laws in the world.
Currently, AphyOS cannot be installed on any Android device. It's a relatively new system and its developers want to partner with established OEMs to reach a wider global market. The idea is to ship brand new devices with AphyOS pre-installed, rather than allowing everyone to install custom firmware on an Android device.
AphyOS has already secured some European OEM partners and is looking to accelerate its growth. Although AphyOS is new and not yet widely known, it shows signs of a bright future for the mobile operating system.
