X (Twitter) plans to remove likes and reposts from the feed
Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, now called X, has announced his plan to hide the number of likes, retweets and favourite tweets in the main feed of his social network. The change, he said, is intended to make the feed "cleaner". The news was announced by user DogeDesigner, an active X user and Musk associate. DogeDesigner said that users will soon have to click on a post to see those metrics. Musk confirmed the plan in a reply, saying that only views will be shown.
Musk also said that the view counter, the only visible part of the metrics in posts, will be moved to the top right corner of the post next to the time of publication. To interact with a post in this new design, users will have to swipe right to reply or left to add to favourites.
Initial reactions from users indicate that most are not fans of Musk's plan. Some have indicated that the change will lead to less engagement on the platform, while others have complained that it will make it harder for people to show their disagreement by commenting (usually with insults) or quoting the original post.
Either way, this change seems to be generating a lot of interest and discussion among users and it will be interesting to see how it affects the future development of the X platform.
