Bluesky will allow users to run their own moderation services
Bluesky, an open-source alternative to Twitter, has announced an important step in the platform's development.
Here's What We Know
This new feature will allow the Bluesky community to co-create and use tools to moderate content and respond to the specific needs of the group.
Bluesky has recently become very popular since it opened access to all in February. The number of users increased by 2 million, bringing the total community to over 5 million.
One of the main aspects of the innovation is the ability of users to choose from various third-party labelling services for an additional layer of moderation. These services can filter content according to the user's own preferences and norms. For example, creating a moderation service to block certain types of images can lead to the creation of your own unique user experience.
Bluesky provides developers with open access to the source code of its Ozone labelling tool. This allows moderators to respond to messages and mark content according to their own rules and standards. It is noted that developers can create automated labelling systems through the Bluesky API.
On the desktop versions of Bluesky, you will be able to use third-party labelling services, and the mobile version will be available soon.
