Google Pixel 9 will get Google's new Adaptive Touch feature
Google Pixel 9, the expected flagship smartphone from Google, may get a new feature called Adaptive Touch. This feature automatically adjusts the sensitivity of the touchscreen, taking into account various factors such as finger moisture or the presence of a protective glass.
Here's What We Know
According to code discovered in the latest Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 update, when you enable the "Adaptive Touch" feature, touch sensitivity automatically adapts to your environment, activity, and screen protection. This could mean that the Pixel's touchscreen will automatically adjust its sensitivity based on conditions, such as when you're wearing gloves or when the display is wet.
It's not quite clear yet what environmental factors or actions will make touch sensitivity automatically adjust, but it's possible that screen wetness will be a factor. Google may be inspired by the OnePlus 12 and its Aqua Touch feature, which adjusts touch sensitivity when the phone is wet, allowing the phone to be used in the rain.
It is currently unknown when this feature will be activated on Pixel smartphones or which models in particular will get this new adaptive touch feature. However, it appears that it will first appear on the Pixel 9, as the feature is likely already built into that model.
