It's official: Embracer Group sold the assets of Saber Interactive and left Russia completely
Media information that Embracer Group sells Saber Interactive has been officially confirmed.
Here's What We Know
In a press release, Swedish holding company Embracer Group announced that today (14 March) it has entered into an agreement to sell certain assets of the Sabre Interactive group for $247 million. Note that this is much cheaper than the purchase of Sabre in 2020 - then the amount of the deal was $525 million.
The buyer of Saber Interactive's assets was Beacon Interactive, which is managed by Saber co-founder Matthew Karch.
Thus, Embracer Group no longer has anything to do with the aggressor country Russia, which recently significantly damaged the reputation and image of one of the largest gaming companies.
According to the agreement, Beacon Interactive retains the right to acquire two more studios that were part of Saber - 4A Games (developer of the Metro series) and Zen Studios - for a fixed price for a certain period of time.
In addition, Embracer retains the rights to the following assets:
- 4A Games studio's next AAA game;
- an unannounced AAA game that is in the concept stage;
- previously announced AAA games under major licences;
- a new multiplayer AAA shooter on its own IP;
- a new AA game on Asmodee's IP;
- Killing Floor 3;
- Teardown (development ongoing);
- a full catalogue of upcoming and released projects from Zen Studios, Aspyr and Tripwire.
