Samsung has revealed why it is not launching the Galaxy A55 in the US

Recently, we wrote a news that Samsung has no plans to launch the new mid-budget Galaxy A55 in the US market. The reason was not quite clear. But now some details of the situation have emerged and it became clear that the reason for the absence of the A55 on the US market, is... Galaxy S23.

Here's What We Know

So, Samsung is planning to bring only the Galaxy A35 model to the US market. This will mark a change in Samsung's strategy for the A-series in the US market. Previous A5x series phones such as the A50, A51, A52, A53 and A54 have been launched in the US, while the Galaxy A34 and A33 never officially went on sale.

In a statement to CNET, a Samsung representative in the US confirmed the sales of the Galaxy A35 in the US while at the same time saying that there are no plans to sell the Galaxy A55 in the US.

"We can confirm that Galaxy A35 5G will be coming to the US market and look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks. While we will not be carrying Galaxy A55 5G at this time, consumers can still take advantage of our Galaxy innovation at great value with Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 FE."

The official reason for this decision remains unclear. But it seems that Samsung is positioning the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 FE in the US as a cheaper alternative to the current flagship, instead of the Galaxy A55.

This can be understood by taking a closer look at Samsung's current offerings in the US, which hints at possible fears of cannibalisation of sales in the lineup. Right now, the Samsung Galaxy S23 can be purchased for just $534 in the US, while the S23 FE costs around $549. Those prices are too close to what the Galaxy A55 would cost if it were released in the US (about $525).
