A new feature of Google Drive: Classify files by category
Google can make it much easier to find and manage files on Google Drive.
Here's What We Know
The information about the possible new feature came to light after TheSpAndroid discovered a code in the Google Drive app.
Users will be able to categorise files into different groups, such as Auto, Banking, Expenses, Home, Identification, Insurance, Health, Pets, School, Tax, Travel, Work, and more for easier organisation.
The mechanics of this feature allow you to select categories for files on the Home tab of the Android app. Files can belong to several categories, making this method of file management more flexible than the current folder system.
Although the exact timing of the innovation remains unknown, it is expected to be available to users on Android, iOS and the web.
Given that Google is actively developing artificial intelligence features, it is possible that this feature will also be supported by machine learning algorithms to automatically classify files or suggest categories based on their content or name.
More information about this new feature may be presented at the Google I/O 2024 conference, which will start on 14 May this year.
