We all dreamed of having lessons on video games at school. And on Reddit, there is a teacher from the United States under the pseudonym AnonymousCerealBowl who launched a course called Video Games as Literature 1 year ago. And now his students are analysing the Red Dead Redemption series.

Here's What We Know

AnonymousCerealBowl conducted a survey among students: "Which game would they like to add to the curriculum?". Red Dead Redemption 1/2 won the poll, so he applied for a grant to get a classroom copy pack for 24 Xbox Series S consoles, 2 PS5s, and 4 Nintendo Switches.

The teacher won the grant and created the first version of the booklets that the students will use. One version was created for Red Dead Redemption and one for Red Dead Redemption 2. The main topic of the course is "character analysis of the main characters of both games". Students track their major moral choices and overall style as they play through the games, and then answer questions along the way.

The teacher also showed the first version of the booklet and asked the community what other RDR-related activities should be added.
