Meta has announced the launch of the beta version of Fediverse Threads, which allows users to share their posts between the Threads social network and the Mastodon platform.

Here's What We Know

Fediverse Threads is launching in beta in the US, Canada, and Japan. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said in a statement that this new feature will allow users to cross-post and view likes from other federated platforms, including Mastodon.

However, the beta version has some limitations. For example, users are not currently able to view replies and follows from Fediverse. Meta cannot guarantee that if you delete your Threads post, it will automatically disappear from other platforms where you have published it.

Although there are some limitations at the moment, Meta hopes to further improve the feature. This could pave the way for Threads to be integrated with Fediverse after successful tests last year.

Here's How It Works

To use this feature, users need to go to the settings of their Threads account and select the Fediverse Sharing (Beta) option and follow the on-screen instructions.
