Batman (2022), directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, received positive reviews from audiences and critics, and grossed nearly $800 million at the box office. And of course, after such a success, the universe has to evolve. But before we see the second film, we will have a spin-off series that will tell the story of the formation of the villain Penguin.

Here's What We Know

HBO has released a teaser for the series. Almost all the screen time is devoted to Penguin, played by the unsurpassed Colin Farrell. The actor has already played the villain in Batman (2022).

In the teaser, you can already see a similar visual style as in Batman, as well as some famous places from the film, such as Arkham Hospital and the Iceberg Lounge. They also showed fragments of some action scenes, so we hope we won't be bored.

When We Can Expect It

The series is scheduled to be released on the Max streaming service in autumn 2024.

Flashback

The filming of the series began in March 2023, but the process was stopped in June during the strike of writers and actors in Hollywood.

The series will start immediately after the end of Batman and will show how Oswald Cobblepot expands his influence on Gotham and becomes an even greater criminal authority in the city.

Penguin will have 8 episodes. Lauren LeFranc is the writer and showrunner. Batman director Matt Reeves is the executive producer.
