Amazon has filed an appeal against the French regulator's decision to fine it more than $34 million for installing a system to monitor the activities and performance of employees.
Here's What We Know
In January, the French National Commission for Information and Freedom fined Amazon France Logistique, which manages Amazon's large warehouses in France, for what the regulator called an "overly intrusive" surveillance system.
At the same time, Amazon said that warehouse management systems and employee monitoring are an industry standard. According to the company, such methods are necessary to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of operations, as well as to track parcels.
