Google is introducing a new experimental section at the top of search results for users in the US, even for those who have not activated Search Generative Experience (SGE), to expand the availability of artificial intelligence within the search platform.

Here's What We Know

Google is seeking to understand how generative artificial intelligence can be useful for users who have not activated this feature or are indifferent to it. The company is conducting these tests to gather feedback and assess how best to use generative AI to improve search results.

This initiative is part of the Search Generative Experience development framework that Google unveiled last year at its developer conference.
