Final Fantasy XIV developers have revealed the release date for the major Dawntrail expansion

Publisher Square Enix has revealed the release date of the next expansion for the multiplayer RPG Final Fantasy XIV.

Here's What We Know

Dawntrail expansion will be released on the 2nd of July and will offer gamers a huge amount of new content, including the continuation of the main storyline, an additional race, new vehicles, unexplored locations, professions and much more.

Since 26 March the developers will open the pre-order, for the registration of which players will get early access to the add-on and will be able to start playing it on 28 June.

A number of in-game items are offered as additional pre-order bonuses, some of which will also be included in the physical Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Collector's Edition.

Final Fantasy IX-style items are also promised, which fans of the franchise see as another hint that a remake of the ninth instalment is in development.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
