Two months ago, reputable insider Shpeshal Nick revealed that Square Enix is planning to release Final Fantasy XVI, the action game that is still a PlayStation 5 exclusive, on the Xbox Series.

At the moment, the developers are only reporting a PC port, which is due out in 2024, but Final Fantasy series producer Naoki Yoshida has made a rather interesting announcement.

Here's What We Know

At the PAX East 2024 conference, the Japanese developer stated that Square Enix is considering releasing Final Fantasy XVI "on other platforms as well" ©.

For us, the release of the second expansion isn't the end of Final Fantasy XVI's story. There's a PC version ahead, and once that's out, we'll consider bringing the game to other platforms.

Considering that Nintendo Switch will not be able to run such a technologically advanced game under any circumstances, and we can't even talk about mobile devices, the only option left is Xbox Series.

But even here there is a little ambiguity: Xbox Series S clearly has insufficient power, and if it can cope with Final Fantasy XVI, the performance and quality of graphics will be unsatisfactory.

It's also interesting how Sony will take the information about FFXVI release on Xbox, as the Japanese corporation has invested significant resources into the game's development in order to make it exclusive.

We await official information from Square Enix and Sony.
