Irregularities in Neuralink testing found in the US
A US lawmaker has asked the US Food and Drug Administration why the agency did not sufficiently vet Neuralink before allowing the brain implant company to test its device on humans.
Here's What We Know
Reuters recently reported that FDA inspectors found problems with record-keeping and quality control of animal experiments at Neuralink in June 2023. And this happened less than a month after Elon Musk's company announced that it had received permission to test its brain implants on humans.
US Democratic Party representative Earl Blumenauer said in a statement to the agency that he was concerned that it had ignored "troubling evidence" of animal testing violations that had been reported since at least 2019. He recalled complaints from company employees about "hacking" in animal experiments that caused unnecessary suffering and death.
Flashback
Neuralink is an American company that has created a brain chip that allows paralysed patients to control a computer using only their thoughts.
