For more than a year and a half, the new Judas game from the famous game designer, author of BioShock, Ken Levine remained without any details. But, finally, the developer revealed some interesting details of the game.

Ken Levine talked to IGN journalist Ryan McCaffrey and famous game showman Geoff Keighley.

The game designer invited them to the office of Ghost Story Games studio in Boston, where he not only talked about Judas, but also gave them the opportunity to play six hours of an early version of the project.

Here's What We Know

From the moment Judas was first revealed, gamers immediately saw that the game was similar to BioShock and, as it turns out, that impression was not wrong. Players are expecting the same complex and story-oriented shooter with Immersive sim elements.

The events of Judas will unfold on a huge spaceship Mayflower, which is heading to the planet Proxima Centauri. As a result of some incident, all the passengers of the ship, including the protagonist Judas, are killed. The protagonist is then printed on a biological printer and finds herself surrounded by robots that simulate the behaviour and appearance of the passengers. The robots become aggressive when the protagonist tries to prove to them that they are machines and not living humans, as they themselves do not realise this.

The behaviour of the Mayflower robot leaders is governed by a system similar to the Nemesis technology from the Middle-earth: Shadow of. Characters have changing lines, locations, quests, and interrelationships with each other, all depending on how the player interacts with them and whose quests they complete.

Unlike BioShock, Judas will have a non-linear narrative, which Ken Levine has succinctly characterised as narrative LEGO. Depending on the player's actions, characters' attitudes towards Judas will change, which in turn will lead to changes in the game's plot.

The main goal of Judas is to save the Mayflower ship from disaster, but how the story will end depends only on the player.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, Judas is really reminiscent of BioShock: the player will be provided with several firearms and peculiar magical abilities, which are reminiscent of Plasmids from Levin's last game.

Gamers will find themselves in spacious, semi-open locations, which provide a huge number of ways to solve the problem, and the developers will not tell you the right way to achieve the goal.

Judas uses roguelike elements: after each death, the heroine can improve herself and her abilities, and also the environment on the ship changes in some way.

When We Can Expect It

Ken Levine did not reveal the release date of Judas. The game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
