It's official: Gearbox Studios and publisher 2K are developing a new Borderlands instalment
Today it became known that Embracer Group Holding sold Gearbox studio - the author of Borderlands franchise and other popular games.
The buyer was the American company Take-Two, and the amount of the deal was $460 million. And there is already news about the first Gearbox project under the wing of Take-Two.
Here's What We Know
Most of Gearbox's games were released by 2K Publishing, which is part of Take-Two.
Head of 2K David Ismailer said that he is sincerely happy to continue the long-standing cooperation with Gearbox and confirmed that the developer is actively involved in the creation of a new part of Borderlands, probably it will be a full-fledged Borderlands 4.
With nearly 20 years of history together, Gearbox has played an important role in our success.

When We Can Expect It
It's unknown when Borderlands 4 will be released, but there have been previous rumours about its possible release in 2024. And even the head of Gearbox Software indirectly confirmed the development of the new Borderlands part not so long ago and hinted at its imminent announcement
