The network showed how X tests adult NSFW communities.

Here's What We Know

Researchers from Watchful and other independent observers have discovered the feature and have been monitoring the app's development. Exclusive screenshots shared with TechCrunch show what NSFW X communities might look like.

Flashback

"NSFW " is an abbreviation for "Not Safe For Work". It means content that is not suitable for viewing in the workplace or other public places due to its explicitness, sexual content, or the possibility of offending the audience. The term is often used to refer to material that contains strong language, eroticism or pornography.

X had not previously been particularly proactive in reaching out to its large online sex worker community. It is worth noting that adult creators are allowed to publish explicit content on X, although they cannot monetise it on the platform.

Nevertheless, it is not yet known whether the feature will be finally implemented. Previous attempts at similar initiatives were postponed due to problems with adult content and monetisation. Previously, there were plans to monetise adult content, but there is no official statement from X on this issue.
