In a recent announcement, Google announced changes to the use of artificial intelligence on its Pixel 8 series mobile devices.

Here's What We Know

Previously, it was believed that local use of AI on phones required a significant amount of RAM.

According to Google's vice president, the Google Gemini AI model was not previously available for Pixel 8 due to unspecified hardware limitations. However, after analysing the situation, the company announced the introduction of Gemini Nano as a developer option in the next software release. Software developers will be able to include Gemini Nano support in their applications.

This decision is causing some debate, as installing AI in RAM can lead to the constant use of part of the device's resources, which can affect its performance and the operation of other applications.
