The ESRB, the organisation that evaluates and assigns age ratings to video games, has published more information about Silent Hill 2, where we learned a little more about the game and what rating it received.

Here's What We Know

Silent Hill 2 has been rated "M" (Mature), which means that it is suitable for players aged 17 and older.

The description on the website states that players use pistols, shotguns, rifles, and knives to kill enemies. The fighting is accompanied by realistic gunshots, screams of pain, and blood splatter effects. Some environments feature large bloodstains and organs on walls, floors and bodies.

The game also contains some sexual content: characters dancing on a pole in a strip club; posters depicting women in revealing clothing (e.g. bra and thong, low-cut neckline); dialogue suggesting sexual violence/abusive behaviour (e.g. "Remember that incident at the hotel? You said you took everything. But you forgot about the video we made"; "Don't touch me... You only want one thing... Or you can just force me, like he always did"). Finally, it is also mentioned that the word "shit" appears in the game.

When We Can Expect It

There is no exact release date yet, but the ESRB rating usually indicates that the game is already in the final stages of production. The game will be released first on PlayStation 5 and then on PC.
