$4.9m contract: Australia buys Fractl:2 laser systems from AIM Defence, they can burn through steel and destroy drones
The Australian Department of Defence has signed a contract with AIM Defence, for the supply of Fractl:2 laser systems.

The contract is valued at $4.9 million and will begin delivery of prototypes in mid-2024.
According to the manufacturer, the Fractl:2 laser is capable of burning through steel and destroying drones that fly at speeds of up to 100 kilometres. The claimed range of operation is several kilometres.
The system has compact dimensions and weighs only 50kg. The device is powered by battery or mains (depends on the version). In the first case, autonomy is enough to destroy 50 drones. Fractl:2 can be controlled from anywhere in the world.
Fractl:2 can be used with various military sensors, as well as integrated into the command and control system.
