China criticises the US for boosting chip exports
China has criticised the United States for tightening semiconductor export rules, saying they have created new barriers to trade and greater uncertainty in the industry.
Here's What We Know
In late March, the Biden administration revised the rules to make it harder for China to access artificial intelligence chips and chip-making tools. The US wants to prevent Beijing from developing the chip industry due to national security concerns.
A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said that the decision imposed a greater burden of requirements on Chinese and American companies that want to work together economically and in normal trade. He also added that it "seriously affects the mutually beneficial cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises and harms their legitimate rights and interests".
