YouTube Music updates the design of the comments section for Android and iOS
In September 2023, Google added a comments section to YouTube Music. Less than a year later, the company is updating the comments section in the YouTube Music app for Android and iOS with a new design.
Here's What We Know
Previously, when you tapped the comments button on the "Now Playing" screen, the app would open a panel showing the comments section on top of the playback screen, preventing you from viewing album art, track information, and playback controls.
Now, when you tap the comments section button on the Now Playing screen, the app still opens the panel showing the comments section, but it also reduces the playback screen to a mini player and displays it above the comments section. This mini player shows the song title and artist and has play/pause and broadcast buttons. With the new design, you can view track information and access basic playback controls even when interacting with the comments section.
Google is rumoured to be rolling out the latest change only on Android and iOS smartphones, but not on tablets. The new comment bar view is expected to be available in an upcoming update to the app.
