"Ozark" star Julia Garner, who won three Emmy Awards for the series, is set to join the cast of Marvel's Fantastic Four reboot as the Silver Surfer, according to fresh information.

Here's What We Know

However, Deadline reports that her character will be based on Shalla-Bal, Norrin Red's lover and ruler of the planet Zenn-La, rather than Norrin Red himself.

Flashback

Let's break down who Shalla-Bal is. The character was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in the comic book Silver Surfer #1 in 1968. Shalla-Bal was originally the Empress of the planet Zenn-La and the lover of Norrin Red, known as the Silver Surfer. However, when Norrin was banished to Earth by Galactus, Shalla-Bal became part of the conspiracy against him. She later even became the Silver Surfer in the alternate Earth X storyline, but passed away during the course of the story.

It's not yet clear if Norrin Red will even appear in the reboot, since Garner took over the role of the Silver Surfer, or if his character will be replaced entirely. The option already revealed in Earth-X, where Norrin and Shalla-Bal meet again, with her also possessing Cosmic powers, is also a possibility.

Here's What The Movie Is About

Plot details for Marvel's Fantastic Four have not yet been revealed.

The film will be directed by Matt Shakman, who directed "WandaVision," and the cast, in addition to Garner, includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/Substance and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Torch Man.

When We Can Expect It

"Fantastic Four" is scheduled to be released exclusively in cinemas on July 25, 2025.
