More good news for MCU fans: The production of the Blade reboot has received a promising update
Despite constant rumours about the possible postponement of the Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali to 2026, a fresh update has turned out to be quite optimistic. The Marvel Studios film finally got some positive news, which was officially announced by Production Weekly.
Here's What We Know
According to this information, the filming start date is scheduled for autumn 2024, which corresponds to the film's expected release date of November 7, 2025.
Shooting on Blade has been postponed multiple times over the past few years, most recently being cancelled just six weeks before production was scheduled to begin. The project has passed through the hands of several writers and directors due to "creative differences." After a major revision, it is reported that Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, has halted production on the film due to his dissatisfaction with the current state of the project and has hired Oscar nominee Michael Green, who wrote the screenplays for Logan and Blade Runner 2049, to revise the script.
The reboot will be helmed by Lovecraft Country series director Yann Demange.
What the film is about
Not much is known about the plot of the "Blade" reboot film yet, but there are expectations that it will feature the mysterious Ebonite Sword, which was introduced in "Eternals" in 2021. There are rumours that the film was originally supposed to focus less on Blade and concentrate on his daughter, Fallon Gray, who has similar powers and helps her father in fighting monsters. However, after the changes made, that idea seems unlikely.
