Tech giant Apple has confirmed massive layoffs of more than 700 employees following the cancellation of the Apple Car project and the revision of the company's strategy for the development of Micro-LED displays.

Here's What We Know

According to a report from the California Employment Development Department, the laid-off employees included those who worked at LuxVue Technology, which Apple acquired in 2014. This company specialised in Micro-LED displays, but after the project was abandoned, it started to work in other areas.

The layoffs also affect Siri's data processing office in San Diego, which was responsible for improving the platform's accuracy. After the layoffs, it is proposed to transfer employees to offices in Austin, Texas.

The closure of the Apple Car project, known as Titan, has also affected several offices where the company was developing and testing the electric vehicle.
