Android 15 may not let you keep Bluetooth turned off for long
Experts have discovered a new feature in the preview version of Android 15, which was released a few weeks ago. It turns out that Android 15 can prevent you from keeping Bluetooth switched off for a long time.
Here's What We Know
According to our colleagues at Android Authority, Android 15 has numerous references to a feature called "Bluetooth Auto-On". As the name suggests, Android 15 can switch Bluetooth on by itself after some time. When this feature is enabled and the user tries to turn off Bluetooth on their device, they may see a dialogue box with the message: "Features such as Quick Share, Find My Device and device location are using Bluetooth". This is to improve the efficiency of Google's upcoming Find My Device feature.
Find My Device is expected to launch next week. It allows users to track down lost or stolen devices. This network of billions of Android devices mainly relies on Bluetooth. In this network, Android devices communicate with nearby compatible devices via Bluetooth, creating a huge mesh network and allowing lost devices to be tracked.
The data is fully encrypted, so users don't have to worry about their device's location being tracked by someone else. Only you can track devices registered to your Google account. Also, only system apps will reportedly be able to switch Bluetooth on or off, so no third-party app will be able to control it.
