Relic Entertainment recently announced its return to standalone studio status, but the change has led to layoffs, adding to the growing list of companies that have suffered in the gaming industry.

On its LinkedIn page, Relic Entertainment announced staff reductions following the separation from Sega. This decision is aimed at increasing the studio's resilience in an unpredictable industry. Despite the cuts, Relic emphasised the value of its employees.

Although Relic did not specify the number of layoffs, a post on LinkedIn by Robyn Smale, an external development producer, announced the loss of 41 jobs. Smale expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging the challenges faced by the studio.

Relic Entertainment is known for games such as Company of Heroes 3, as well as other well-known real-time strategy titles such as Age of Empires 4 and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
